Acts 9:15 “But the Lord said to him, ‘Go, for this man is my chosen instrument to take my name to the Gentiles, Kings, and Israelites.’”
Think
“Wait, hold on a second... You want me to do what, with who, and when? Now?” These were the incredulous thoughts racing through Ananias’ mind when God called him to pray over his sworn enemy, Saul. Picture the scene: Ananias, a devout believer, had fled to Damascus to escape the persecution and violence unleashed by Saul against Christians like himself. And now, God was asking him to extend grace and compassion to the very person responsible for the suffering he had fled from.
In that pivotal moment, Ananias faced a choice—whether to respond with confidence to the divine calling or to shrink back in fear. It was a moment to embrace the audacious, courageous step of faith, saying “yes” despite the uncertainty and discomfort. Through his commitment to Jesus and his knowledge of God’s Word, Ananias recognized God’s voice and boldly declared, “Here I am.” This moment underscores the importance of making ourselves available to God, ready to step into the unknown when he calls.
Ananias’ faithful response allowed God to work miraculously through him. By obeying God’s command, Ananias became an instrument of healing and reconciliation, participating in God’s divine plan to transform Saul into Paul, a powerful messenger of the gospel. Ananias experienced firsthand the immeasurable blessings that flow from obediently capturing the moments God presents, allowing him to accomplish far beyond what we could ask or imagine.
So, as we reflect on Ananias’ story, consider the moments God is presenting to us today. We can respond with boldness and faith, trusting that God can use us to bring about his purposes in ways that exceed our wildest dreams. Let’s embrace each opportunity to say “yes” to God’s calling, knowing that he is faithful to fulfill his promises and accomplish his plans through us.
