Remember the old TV show Mission Impossible? It always started with Mr. Phelps getting a tape saying, "Your mission, should you choose to accept it..." Well, we have our own mission from Jesus: the Great Commission. In Mark 16:15, He tells us to "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature." It sounds enormous – like mission impossible – right?
Think about it. Sharing the good news of Jesus’ death and resurrection with everyone feels overwhelming. But Jesus didn't give this task to just a few; it's for all of us. You don’t need to attend a seminary, join a mission group, or go overseas. If you follow Jesus, you’re already part of his team. The real question is, what’s your role in this mission?
When Jesus appeared to his disciples after his resurrection, they hid in fear. Instead of scolding them, Jesus said, “Peace be with you.” He showed them his scars, proving he was alive. This peace wasn’t just a greeting; it was reassurance. We need that same peace to serve him. Before anything else, we need to be reconciled to God through Jesus, which comes with salvation.
Jesus gives us peace with God and the peace of God. He promises to be with us always as we share the gospel. This peace helps us handle conflicts and work together. With his peace, his proof, and his power, we can embrace our mission confidently and lovingly. Let's share this incredible news with the world.
