Serving the Ministry
October 27, 2022
Read
1 Peter 4:10, "Serve one another with the particular gifts God has given each of you."
Matthew 20:28, "For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many."
Think
At FC, we say, "If you're not serving, you're swerving!" Why? Because serving is an integral part of our faith. This means if God has transformed our hearts, we don't just serve out of obligation, but adoration for who He is and what He's doing in our lives.
By getting outside ourselves and putting others first, we are obeying God and ushering unspeakable joy and blessing into our lives. Here are three great things about serving:
1. God has gifted us with unique talents and abilities, and He delights in seeing our giftedness on display within the church.
2. Serving is about community; it's about working together to build lifelong friendships and leading by example, just as Jesus did for us.
3. It provides opportunities to get involved in the life of the church!
No matter where you are in your walk with God, know this: the benefits of serving within His house far outweigh the costs! So, really, the question isn't why we should serve, but rather, why shouldn't we?
Act
Maybe you've been considering signing up to serve. Or, maybe you've been attending regularly but haven't attended Newcomer's Luncheon. Whatever stage you're in, we have a place for you at FC!
Pray
Dear Lord, thank You for sending Jesus to perfectly model humility and selflessness as He served the masses. Build within me this same desire to place the needs of others before my own, and a willingness to do anything and everything as Your servant within the walls of the church and beyond. In Jesus' name, Amen.
