The Omniscience Of God

In our fast-paced world, we’re accustomed to getting answers instantly. If we want to know something, it’s just a matter of seconds: “Siri, where’s the nearest Starbucks? Google, what’s the weather like tomorrow?” We’ve become so used to living without uncertainty, trained to believe that every answer is just a click away. In this age of instant information, we often find ourselves turning to the internet for guidance, allowing it to satisfy our curiosity and fears. But while Google may seem omniscient, it pales in comparison to the true all-knowing God who holds our lives in his hands.

God’s omniscience means he knows everything—past, present, and future—with perfect clarity. Psalm 139:1-4 echoes this truth: "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar." Unlike the information we seek online, God’s knowledge is not just factual; it’s deeply personal. A.W. Pink wrote, "God knows everything. Everything possible, everything actual; all events and all creatures, of the past, the present, and the future. He is perfectly acquainted with every detail in the life of every being in heaven, in earth, and in hell."

Yet, despite God’s infinite wisdom and understanding, we often trust the quick, easy answers the internet provides. It’s easier to ask Google for help because it’s immediate and visible. But God didn’t invent the internet to replace himself. His knowledge goes beyond facts and data—he understands our deepest thoughts and cares for us intimately. Romans 8:27 reassures us that the Spirit intercedes for us according to God’s will because he knows our hearts so completely.

Today, let’s shift our focus from the limited knowledge of the internet to the boundless wisdom of God. When we feel uncertain or alone, instead of turning first to our devices, let’s turn to God, who truly knows us inside and out. Trust him with your deepest thoughts and concerns, confident that his omniscience is paired with his infinite love. In God’s all-encompassing knowledge, we are fully seen, fully known, and fully loved.
