Psalm 37:5 “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

"In order to be on the receiving end of God’s blessings, you have to first be blessable." – Pastor Ed Young
Think about that for a moment—we all want God’s blessings, but are we living in a way that invites them? To be blessable means living in surrender, aligning your life with God’s will, and making space for him to work in you. It’s not about being perfect or checking off spiritual boxes. It’s about trusting God enough to let him lead.
And what does it mean to be blessed? Pastor Ed Young describes it as being “on the receiving end of the tangible and intangible favor of God.” Tangible blessings might be a healthy family, meaningful work, or financial provision. But the intangible blessings? Those are the ones that truly change us—peace when life feels like it’s falling apart, joy that doesn’t depend on circumstances, and the unshakable assurance of God’s presence. Being blessed isn’t just about what we have; it’s about who God is in our lives.
G.K. Chesterton once said, “The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried.” Surrender isn’t easy—it’s letting go of control, of our need to have it all figured out. Surrender isn’t a loss; it’s an exchange—our limited plans for God’s limitless purposes.
Jesus showed us what being blessable looks like in the garden of Gethsemane. With the weight of the cross ahead, he prayed, “Not my will, but yours be done.” That surrender brought the ultimate blessing: salvation for the world. A.W. Tozer said it best: “God cannot bless us until he has us.”

Ask yourself this question: Is there something you’re holding back from God? A fear, a plan, a part of your life you haven’t surrendered? Identify one area of your life—your plans, relationships, or fears—and pray, “Lord, I surrender this to you.”
Pray
Heavenly Father, I want to live a life that invites your blessings. Help me to surrender my plans, my fears, and my desires to you, trusting that your ways are better than mine. Teach me to recognize and embrace both the tangible and intangible gifts you’ve already given me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
