It’s In Us

Read
Ecclesiastes 3:11 “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Think
Eternity—it’s not just something we hear about in sermons or read in a Bible verse. It’s planted deep within us, placed there by the God who crafted our souls. Have you ever noticed that? There’s this pull, a longing for something more—something that doesn’t fade with the passing hours. Yet, everywhere we look, time seems to be in charge. Our phones buzz with reminders; our watches tick away, and every clock we glance at whispers the same thing: time is running out. Deadlines and the pressure of the next thing surround us. But here’s the catch—God, the author of time, doesn’t see things the way we do. He’s planted eternity inside us, a reminder that we were made for more than the ticking clock.
Jesus, unlike us, isn’t confined by time or stuck in the moment. While we get distracted by the latest thrill or the urge for quick satisfaction, He offers us something far deeper, something eternal. He’s not just offering us moments to pass, He’s offering us a life to invest. Every encounter you have today—every smile, every conversation, every task—can be more than just a moment on the clock. When you’re walking with Jesus, it’s a chance to touch eternity. Jesus invites you to stop living as though the temporary things are all that matter. He gives purpose to even the smallest details of life and promises that the things we crave to last—like joy, love, and fulfillment—are what he’s offering forever.
Paul reminds us that the real things, the eternal things, aren’t visible to our eyes. We tend to get caught up in what we can see, what we can control, but Jesus calls us to fix our gaze on him—on what truly lasts. It’s a battle not to be distracted, but it’s a battle worth fighting. When we live with eternity in our hearts, every moment becomes an opportunity to live for what will never fade. Imagine waking up each day knowing that even the simplest action could have eternal significance. That’s the life Jesus calls you into, a life that invests in the eternal and leaves behind the chase for the temporary.
Apply
Today, take a moment to pause and choose one interaction—whether it’s a conversation with a friend, a text message, or even a quick chat with a coworker—and intentionally reflect on how you can bring eternity into it.
Pray
Jesus, show me how to bring your eternal purpose into my everyday moments. Let my words, actions, and thoughts be shaped by the knowledge that I’m part of something far greater than what I can see. Help me invest in what matters most today. In your name. Amen.
