Read
Ephesians 5:1-2 “Follow God’s example, therefore, as dearly loved children and walk in the way of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Think
"Living in the zone is, first and foremost, about seeing God as he really is and mimicking his character in our lives." - Pastor Ed Young
It’s a bold statement, but it invites a deeper question: do you truly see God for who he is or have you settled for a watered-down version shaped by your comfort zones? Ephesians 5:1-2 calls us to “be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
Imitating God starts with a heart captivated by his greatness and mercy. Think about it—how can we mimic a God we barely know? Spend time in his Word. Listen for his voice in your everyday moments. The word “imitate” (mimētēs) is about more than copying; it’s about transformation. The closer we draw to God, the more our lives will reflect his love, his mercy, and his holiness.
But let’s be honest: mimicking God isn’t easy. Theologian Warren Wiersbe points out that it’s not about perfection but progress. Living in the zone means letting his love challenge your bitterness, his grace soften your pride, and his compassion move you to act. It’s choosing to forgive that person who hurt you. It’s serving even when no one notices. It’s loving when it feels impossible.
Alexander Maclaren captures it well: walking in love, as Christ did, demands sacrifice. Living in the zone means stepping beyond comfort into the messiness of real love—selfless, active, relentless.
So, here’s the challenge: will you step into the zone today? Will you let God’s character shape your choices, your words, and your relationships? It’s not about getting it right every time—it’s about living with a heart fully surrendered to the One who first loved you. Dive in and watch how God’s grace will transform your world.

Pray
Lord, help me see you clearly—your love, grace, and holiness—and let your character shape how I live. Teach me to reflect you in my words, actions, and relationships. Use me to bring your good news to others. Draw me closer to you each day and let my life point others to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
