Read: Matthew 27

Matthew 27:22 “‘What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called the Messiah?’ Pilate asked. They all answered, ‘Crucify him!’”

Think

Pilate faced a dilemma that many of us encounter: the question of what to do with Jesus. This decision has eternal consequences. Pilate asked the right question but sought the wrong source for his answer, leading to a tragic choice. In Matthew 27:22, Pilate asks the crowd, “What should I do then with Jesus, who is called Christ?” Their answer was to crucify him.

People view Jesus differently. Some see him as a great moral teacher, others as a lunatic for claiming to be the Son of God, and some even as a conman. These perceptions influence how we respond to him. What we think about Jesus determines how we act toward him, and this impacts our eternal destiny.

In the Gospel accounts, we see varied reactions to Jesus. Religious leaders sought his death, Judas betrayed him, and soldiers mocked him. Yet, there were also those who honored him, like the women who brought spices to his grave and the centurion who recognized him as the Son of God. These diverse responses highlight the importance of our personal decision about Jesus.

Consider what you will do with Jesus. Will you regard him as merely a good teacher, misunderstand him without deeper study, or ignore him entirely? Instead, believe in who God says he is, trust him, and let him transform your heart. Seek to know him better through the Bible, prayer, and fellowship with other believers. Proclaim his name boldly, even when it’s challenging. This is how we should respond to Jesus, our Savior.

Apply

Pray

Jesus, thank you for shedding your blood for me while I was still a sinner. Help me to see you clearly as my Lord and Savior. Guide me and give me wisdom as I seek to know you more. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
