Read: Matthew 28

Matthew 28:2-4 “There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men.”

Think

On July 20, 1969, the entire world held its breath as Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin took their historic steps on the moon. Armstrong's iconic words, "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind," still resonate today. Can you imagine the tension, excitement, and sheer wonder of that moment? For those who lived through it, it wasn't just about exploring space; it was about overcoming incredible challenges and pushing human potential to its limits.

Neil Armstrong, the first man to set foot on the lunar surface, trained tirelessly for this mission. Picture the countless hours spent preparing for every possible scenario. When the time came, the descent to the moon was tense. Armstrong had to manually pilot the lunar module to avoid a rocky area, landing with only seconds of fuel left. Can you feel the pressure he must have felt? His calm and precise actions under such circumstances are a testament to the extraordinary human spirit.

Now, imagine the awe and wonder if we had witnessed Jesus rising from the dead. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is even more monumental. Jesus' crucifixion was a moment of profound agony and sacrifice. He bore the weight of humanity's sins, suffering in our place. When he declared, "It is finished," the veil in the temple tore, symbolizing that the barrier between God and man was removed. Although no one saw him leave the tomb, its impact was undeniably felt. The earth shook, an angel rolled away the stone, and the guards were paralyzed with fear. The women who came to anoint Jesus' body found the empty tomb and were filled with joy and wonder. Can you imagine their astonishment and joy?

The resurrection of Jesus is not just a historical event; it transforms lives. It challenges us to reflect deeply on our own responses. Are we moved by the reality of his resurrection, or do we let it pass by without much thought? Jesus' victory over death is the cornerstone of our faith, offering hope, redemption, and new life. Just as the lunar landing continues to inspire awe, the resurrection calls us to experience a profound sense of wonder, gratitude, and purpose. This incredible event invites us to let its truth reshape our hearts and lives, filling us with new life and direction. Let's embrace the gravity of the cross and the triumph of the resurrection, allowing it to transform us from the inside out.

Pray

Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross and rising again three days later to pay the penalty for my sins. Stir my heart afresh and give a sense of passion for others who don’t know the truth. Give me courage to share this good news with those around me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
