Reflecting The Blessor

Luke 6:38 "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

"We must take those blessings from God and then reflect the character of the Blessor by blessing others." – Pastor Ed Young
These words cut straight to the heart. Every one of us has been on the receiving end of God’s blessings—grace we didn’t deserve, provision we couldn’t have earned, love that never gives up. But what are we doing with those blessings? Are we letting them flow through us, or are we holding them back?
Aesop’s fable The Two Springs tells of two springs side by side. One flowed freely, refreshing everyone who came to drink. The other hoarded its water, refusing to share. Over time, the flowing spring thrived, its water sparkling and life-giving, while the hoarding spring became stagnant, its water lifeless and bitter. Isn’t that how our lives feel when we clutch tightly to what God has given us? Stagnant. Empty. Unfulfilled.
God designed blessings to move. In Genesis 12:2, he tells Abraham, “I will bless you… and you will be a blessing.” This wasn’t just a promise for Abraham; it’s a calling for all of us. Blessings are like rivers—they’re meant to flow, bringing life wherever they go. When we choose to let them flow, we reflect God’s heart, spreading his love and grace to a world desperate for hope.
Reflecting the Blessor requires courage. It means trusting God enough to share what we’ve been given, whether it’s our time, resources, or kindness. Like the flowing spring, we’re called to refresh others—not because we have to, but because God’s blessings are too good to keep to ourselves.
