Psalm 46:1 "God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble."

Think

Where do you turn when life feels overwhelming? When you see the brokenness around you—addiction, fear, or loss—do you wonder if anything can truly make a difference? Psalm 46:1 reminds us that God is not only our refuge and strength but also our constant help in the midst of trouble. He is present, faithful, and unshakable.

But God’s promise doesn’t stop with us—it extends through us. As his church, we are called to join his mission of rescue, restoration, and redemption. Think about the people in your life or your community who feel forgotten or trapped in despair. What if God placed you—and your church family—in their path to be a source of hope?

Jesus offers the kind of freedom that nothing else can. He breaks chains, heals the deepest wounds, and redeems stories that seem beyond repair. And God uses his church, working together, to reflect his love to a world desperate for hope. It could be through serving in a ministry, walking alongside someone in pain, or creating a space where people feel seen and valued. The church isn’t a building; it’s a community of believers who reflect the heart of Christ in tangible ways.

We don’t step into this mission alone. The same God who is our refuge also empowers us with his strength. As we lean into him, we find the courage to step into difficult situations, to love the unlovable, and to point others to the One who restores all things.

What role can you play in someone’s rescue today? Ask God to reveal opportunities for you to join him in his work. Together, as his church, we can bring hope, healing, and redemption to a world in desperate need.

Apply

Pray for opportunities. Ask God to open your eyes to those in need around you and show you how you can help. Begin to serve, give, and walk into your next step.

Pray

Father, you are our refuge and strength, always present and faithful in every moment of need. Open my eyes to those around me who are hurting, and use me and my church to bring rescue, restoration, and redemption through you. Empower us to serve boldly, love deeply, and point others to the freedom and hope found in Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
