Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
Think
The cross is the ultimate proof of God’s love—a love that pursued us when we were far from him, broken, and undeserving. Christ didn’t wait for us to clean ourselves up or earn his grace; he died for us while we were still sinners. But his love wasn’t just for you or me—it’s for everyone. He invites us to be part of his mission to bring others into that saving love, starting with prayer.
Charles Spurgeon said, “If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our dead bodies. And if they perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees, imploring them to stay.” That’s the kind of urgency and love God calls us to. Prayer for the lost isn’t just a ritual; it’s an act of deep compassion and spiritual warfare. It’s where hearts are softened, blind eyes are opened, and the seeds of the gospel are planted.
Who in your life needs Jesus? A friend, a family member, a coworker? Picture their face and imagine the transformation they could experience in Christ—freedom from guilt, purpose in life, and hope for eternity. When you pray for their salvation, you’re joining God’s work in drawing them to himself.
Start today. Name someone specifically in your prayers and ask God to work in their heart. Pray for opportunities to share his love with them, for the courage to speak truth, and for their eyes to be opened to the beauty of the gospel. Salvation is God’s work, but he invites us to intercede on behalf of others. Someone’s eternity could change because you prayed.

Write down the names of one or two people in your life who need Jesus. Commit to praying for them daily this week—ask God to soften their hearts and give you opportunities to share the gospel with them.
Pray
God, thank you for loving me while I was still far from you and for sending Jesus to save me. Today, I lift up [name(s)] to you and ask that you soften their hearts and open their eyes to your love and grace. Use me to reflect your truth and give me the courage to share the hope of the gospel with them. Lord, draw them to yourself and change their eternity through your saving power. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
