Matthew 27:59-60, 62-63 “Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, and placed it in his own new tomb… The next day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. ‘Sir,’ they said, ‘we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, “After three days I will rise again.”’”

Think

Friday was chaos. The cross. The cries. The darkness.

But Saturday? Silence.

Jesus’ body lay still in the tomb. The disciples scattered. Hope seemed buried. And heaven? Quiet.

This day doesn’t get much attention. No songs. No traditions. Just space. Waiting. Confusion. And yet, it’s a day we all know too well—the in-between. The place between prayer and breakthrough. Between pain and healing. Between the promise and the fulfillment.

It’s the ache of not knowing what comes next.

Imagine how the disciples felt. Everything they had given their lives to had collapsed. The one they called Messiah was gone. The miracles were memories. The future looked like a closed tomb.

But what they didn’t realize was that even in the silence, God was still working.

Behind the scenes, Jesus wasn’t inactive. Scripture tells us he descended into death, proclaimed victory over darkness, and took the keys of sin and hell. The silence of Saturday didn’t mean the absence of God. It meant the setup for resurrection.

And the same is true for you.

Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean he’s not doing it. Just because it feels still doesn’t mean it’s over. God is often most active in the moments that feel the most uncertain.

If you’re in a Saturday season—waiting, doubting, grieving—don’t rush past it. Sit with it. Let it refine your faith. Because this is where hope deepens. This is where trust grows. This is where we remember: the story isn’t finished yet.

Sunday is coming.

Apply

Think of someone who’s in a “Saturday season”—waiting for healing, grieving a loss, or feeling stuck in silence. Reach out with encouragement. Let them know they’re not alone—and remind them that God is still working, even in the waiting.

Pray

God, I don’t always understand the silence. I want answers, resolution, hope. But today, I choose to trust that you’re still working behind the scenes. Help me to wait with faith, to hope in the dark, and to believe that resurrection is coming. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
