Devotional 14: The Love of Money, Part 3
Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have. Hebrews 13:5
Be content with what you have! What is contentment? It is the ability to admire without the need to acquire. It is the capacity to look at something and compliment it without having to own it. What really energizes the lack of contentment is envy. You see someone who possesses what you wish you had. You hear someone share how their life has been blessed in ways yours has not been blessed. Envy blows in and contentment flies out!
Contentment is a developed character trait. As you learn to keep your life free from the love of money, you will begin to cultivate contentment. When the craving for more “stuff” becomes gratitude for what you already have, the love of money takes a backseat to contentment, allowing you to see the God’s love and His many blessings in your life.
Thank God for all the many ways He has blessed you.
Take a moment today to go out of your way to compliment someone who has something that you do not.
