Day 25: Treasure in Heaven, Part 2
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The eye is the lamp of the body. So, if your eye is healthy, your whole body will be full of light, but if your eye is bad, you whole body will be full of darkness. If then the light in you is darkness, how great is the darkness! - Matthew 6:19-23
Jesus said to store treasures in heaven, meaning to invest your wealth into that which is eternal. That means to invest your money into the local church where life change happens. Immediately following this exhortation, Jesus talks about good and bad eyes. In the first century a “good eye” was one who was single minded resulting in generosity, while a “bad eye” was one who had mixed motives resulting in stinginess.
As you continue with the 90 Day Challenge, a positive by-product is a “good eye.” You are becoming single minded, focused on the one thing that matters most - building Christ’s church one life at a time. You see what counts and are willing to give generously to it. Changed lives in Christ become the consuming passion of your life. Your eye is heathy and your whole body is full of light!
Ask God to let you see with clarity what moves His heart and then pray that would move your heart as well.
Reread Matthew 6:19-23. Continue to pray for those you know far from God and ask God to give you opportunities to invite them to Fellowship Church.
