Day 34: Cheerful Giver, Part 2
Remember this—a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8
These verses from the letter to the Corinthians give us a rule, an attitude and an outcome in relationship to giving. The rule – you get to determine the return on your giving. The attitude – hilarious giving is what God loves. The outcome – God will take care of you abundantly in response to generous giving.
Today we look at the attitude – hilarious giving is what God loves. God loves a cheerful giver! The Greek word for cheerful is hilaros from which we get the English word hilarious. God wants us to be jubilant, riotous, exuberant, boisterous, exhilarated, noisy givers. God loves those who cannot wait for the next opportunity to give.
Ask God to reveal the condition of your heart when it comes to giving. If you are not seeing hilarity, then ask God to show you why not.
Continue to work on your list of ways to increase your opportunities to give generously. For each opportunity add names of an individuals you know to whom you can carry out the opportunity to give hilariously!
