Day 9: Commitment
Matthew 6:33 – “Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
Question: Do your commitments line up with your God-given priorities? This is a game-changing question. Today’s verse underscores the foundation of our top priority – to seek God’s rule and reign in every part of our lives. Thus, we place God first in our marriage, our family, our church, our job – you get the picture!
Now here is where the rubber meets the road. Look carefully at your commitments. Do they line up and reflect your priorities? For example, you say you put God first in your church, but does your attendance, service, and giving reflect that priority? You say you put God first in your marriage, but do you truly love your spouse and put him/her above every other human relationship? During the 90-Day Challenge, you will have many opportunities to examine your commitments comparatively within the framework of God-given priorities.
Ask God to make very clear to you where your commitments are falling short of your priorities.
When you discover a commitment that does not align with your God-given priorities, be decisive, and make any change necessary.
